King of Parang Soca, Edwin “Crazy” Ayoung, Celebrates Parang in July with Melly Rose and Afeisha Brown

Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago – 16 July 2025 — The unmistakable voice of Edwin “Crazy” Ayoung, the King of Parang Soca, is ringing out this July, not with sleigh bells, but with the sounds of sweet Trinbagonian parang.

In celebration of Parang in July, Crazy recently took to social media to post the official music video for his collaborative track with vocal powerhouses Melly Rose and Afeisha Brown. The song, a lively blend of soca and parang rhythms, was released earlier this year and brings together three generations of talent. In his caption, Crazy writes.

The post not only highlights the continued relevance of the genre but also reinforces the growing tradition of celebrating Parang in July, a light-hearted yet meaningful extension of our cultural calendar. What began as a playful take on the Christmas spirit has now evolved into a real moment of pride, where artists and audiences reconnect with the rhythms, lyrics, and stories that define Trinbagonian identity.

For Crazy, who pioneered the fusion of soca and parang decades ago, this moment is more than seasonal, it’s about legacy. By collaborating with contemporary voices like Melly Rose and Afeisha Brown, he continues to bridge the gap between past and present, keeping the music fresh, alive, and rooted in culture.

Parang in July reminds us that our traditions aren’t confined to a date on the calendar. Whether it’s July or December, the joy, humour, and community spirit of parang remain a powerful expression of who we are.
