Reality TV shows seem to be the new entertainment trend in Jamaica for 2021. The Social House, a new, hot reality series featuring four of Jamaica’s trending social media influencers aired its first episode on Monday, July 12. The YouTube series will have the four influencers going head-to-head each week as they vie for a chance to win one million dollars.
The competitors — Youtubers Quite Perry and Chiney K; dancer and reality star, TC; and IG comedian, Fatskull — will share a house for the duration of the show and take on weekly challenges aimed at taking the influencers out of their comfort zones. In episode one of The Social House, the contestants were given a basket full of ingredients (provided by sponsor CB foods) and given the task of preparing a meal utilizing all the ingredients given in 25 mins.
If the contestants thought that winning the Million Dollars would have been a walk in the park before entering the house, they were sure to retract that thought as during the cook-off, at the end of the 25 mins, some meals were either undercooked or incomplete. The contestants in the midst of their failures did not however fail to entertain.
The reality show is backed by major corporates companies such as KFC, Sandals, Flow, Sigagicor Bank, JNGI, Wata, Boom, AC Hotels among many more.
In an interview with The Jamaican Gleaner, Chiney K said while confident that she will walk away with the cash prize, she was “looking forward to how much the Jamaican entertainment scene will benefit from having another reality TV series”. She expressed that with the international market already miles ahead with reality TV shows, she is happy Jamaica has finally joined in.
The Social House is the second Jamaican reality TV featured on YouTube since 2021, with the first being DanceHall Life, which featured the former dancers of entertainer Spice – Pretty Pretty, Dancing Rebel, and TC.
Viewers will have a big say in who walks away with the one million dollars cash prize as winners will be decided through voting. The Social House will be aired every Monday night on YouTube.
